Moving the Running gear to Middleton and then uniting it with the body. -
Moving the tram to Middelton (11)
on 15th August 2012 the nearly complete tram body was moved to the Middelton Railway trust at Moor Road, Hunslet, Leeds for final restoration. -
Glazing the Tram (8)
Fitting toughened glass in the tram, approx 60years after a tram was last glazed in leeds. All thanks to the genrosity of Cyril Isaacs of Leeds and Oakland Glass of barnsley who supplied nd fitted it at no cost. -
Building a Rolling Chassis. (9)
Building up all the suspension parts and fitting the wheels to them to ceate a rolling chassis. -
Fitting a catenary rod (5)
The upper deck of the tram is strenthened by two 3/4" diameter steel rods tht run along the interior of the monitor frames and are then bolted thorugh the bulkheads. The form a 'catenary' curve which greatly strenghtens the tram -
Putting on the first canvas (9)
Putting the canvas on the first monitor ceiling and waterproofing it. -
Putting the roof back on (15)
Putting the rebuilt roof structure back onto 107. This was removed in 2006 and after initial storage has now been refurbished over the last 12 months. -
San Pedro sewing project (7)
As well as helping to restore a tram I am also involved in supporting a project to help the women of San Pedro Peruplan (El Salvador). This is a very poor township and Gildersome Baptist Church has sponsord this project for the ;ast 2 years. In lat 2009 I visited San Pedro to check on progress and see if objectives needed to be changed. The prject has succeeded beyoind my expectations and these few pictures show some scenes from my visit -
Making Chilled Iron Wheels (17)
107 was fitted with Millers Patent Chilled Iron Wheels when it was built. These were one piece cast iron wheels that had had a form of heat treatment to make them harder wearing. The LTHS has had a set of new Chilled iron wheels cast. These are believed to be the first of this type to be manufactured for about a century. This will show how that was done when I can learn to get the pictures uploaded in the right format. -

How to remove a rusty old screw (3)
A small gallery that shows how we extracted many rusty 110 year old screws that needed to be replaced
