At last back from far flung places (El salvador, California and Tenerife) that were all warmer than here a very cold Wednesday at the tram. There has been progress and the waist rails are now fully fitted. The rubbing strakes that go outside them need to be fitted next and today Bernard used a Jim Crow and half a pulley to bend a trial piece to the correct radius. The trials went well so next week we should be able to get the 4 lengths of feather edge bar bent to the correct size. In the aftrenoon Jim and I had a go at fitting two of the roof ribs using the jig made last year. This was a learning experience but eventually we worked out how to adjust the joints with wedges to get the mon itor ribs in the correct positions. The jig needs a strengthener making but next week we should be able to fit some more ribs. We also worked out what we need to fit the floors to the end platforms. All in all a good days work in the cold. Also a happy new year to all readers, who this week have come from at least 8 countries ranging from japan, to New Zealand as well as Turkey, Greece, Spain, India and Cyprus.
